Makeup Revolution Salvation Velvet Lip Lacquer [Review]

With the first order I placed with Makeup Revolution I got one of their Salvation Velvet Matte Lip Lacquers, because they reminded me so much of Lime Crime's Velvetines, but for the fraction of their price.

The first one I got was I believe You Took My Love, and I received so many compliments for it [and I loved it so much] that I decided to get some more shades.

This review is for 5 out of 7 lip lacquers. The remaining 2 are an orange and a purplish colour which I thought I would not get as much wear as the ones I bought. Now I wish I had gotten them because I have too many pinks. But well ...

These cost £3.00 each and you can get yours from the Makeup Revolution website HERE

Keep scrolling for an in depth review at the end of the post.

'I Fall in Love'

'I Fall in Love'

I Fall In Love is a very bright Barbie pink. This shade is very similar to 'You Took my Love' but brighter and more cool toned.

This has really good staying power [like the rest of the Salvation Velvet Lacquers] and dries totally matte.

I found that some of these go on better and less streaky than the rest of the shades.

This one I find to be a little bit streaky.

'Keep Crying for You'

'Keep Crying for You'

Keep Crying for You is certainly the most wearable shade of the lot. It is still bright, but relatively muted when compared to the brighter shades in this line.

Dries totally matte, and not as streaky as some of the others.

'You Took my Love'

'You Took my Love'

You Took My Love is also a very bright pink.

Dries matte, and this one I find not to be streaky at all. In fact, I love the finished look of this one.

'Keep Trying for You'

'Keep Trying for You'

Keep Trying For You is one of my favourite shades in this line.

It is a yellow toned red and really reminds me of Mac's Russian Red.

This also goes on without any streaks, and has a lovely matte finish.

'What I Believe'

'What I Believe'

What I Believe is the only nudish shade out of the bunch. It is a matte nude but with pink undertones.

Out of the ones I have, this was the hardest to apply, and the most streaky too.

I thought I would love it but I don't think that I'll ever wear this one outside.

Summary:

All of the Salvation Velvet Lip Lacquers are richly pigmented and come in a standard plastic tube with a doe foot applicator.

Being richly pigmented, they are quite hard to apply - especially around the lip line. Since these dry out almost immediately, you have to be very fast [and careful] because you cannot layer these on after they're dry because you'll get a patchy result.

Once dry, they do last a very long time, but they do have a tendency to fade in the middle part of your lips.

They are quite drying on the lips. but you can easily slather on some lipbalm before or after you apply these for a smoother feel [because these feel like you have a thin plastic sheath over your lips].

Would certainly repurchase though because I love the pigmentation and the bright colours.

Hope you find this review helpful!

Lorraine

Holika Holika Heartful Moisture Lipstick in Candy Red [First Impressions | Review]

This Holika Holika Heartful Moisture Lipstick is one of my latest lipstick acquisitions.

I am a sucker for cute packaging, and the heart shape of this one won me over!

I got mine from this Ebay Seller HERE.

There are 6 shades in total, and I chose the one in Candy Red, a very reddish/pink colour.

It is very glossy [as the name implies], and glides on super easily on the lips.

It also leaves a very slight stain when it fades.

Staying power is actually average, so you will need to reapply throughout the day.

I also really love the packaging [especially since it is made out of what looks like tin]

The colour is actually quite sheer and not really buildable - but it is enough to give your lips a pop of colour.

It is also very moisturising - if I'm not mistaken this contains a concoction of oils: olive, grapefruit and orange.

Since it leaves your lips super hydrated you can reapply this several times without feeling the need to wipe off the 'residue'.

Taken after I had eaten some fruit because I forgot to take photos as soon as I applied this - but look at that colour!

The lipstick bullet is a tad fragile, so make sure not to press really hard on it when using the lipstick.

This Holika Holika lipstick really reminded me of the Revlon Lip Butters, what do you think?

Love,

Lorraine

Anatomicals Never Lose Your Cherry Lip Balm [Review]

Me and lip balms, lip balm and I.

I buy so many [and lose so many], but I can't help resisting their sweet siren's song.

The Anatomicals Never Lose Your Cherry Lip Balm is one which I use every morning.

Why do I like it so much? Keep reading!

Apart from having the cutest names and tag lines, all Anatomicals products are pocket friendly.

This lip balm costs €3.50 and you can get yours from their website HERE.

Unlike the usual lip balms which come in a 'lipstick' type applicator, this one comes in a squeezy tube.

Since this has Spf 8 it is perfect for slathering it on while you're at the beach - sunburnt, dry lips are surely a big no-no.

This lip balm, as the name implies, has a Cherry scent and flavour which is not too overpowering, and that I really like.

It is slightly tinted, but I don't think that it shows so well on my lips.

What I know is that this goes on like nectar on my chapped lips - especially in the mornings. Plus, it leaves them looking glossy and healthy [without the sticky feeling that glosses tend to have].

The problem is that, since this is a glossy product, it tends to fade away quickly [and if, you're like me and you're constantly nibbling on your bottom lip. then it will fade even quicker].

But hey! any excuse to re-apply.

Since this Anatomicals lip balm is so glossy, I tend to use it on its own [so before I apply lipstick I usually use the waxy type lip balms because they are less messy to wipe off]

Hope you find this uselful.

Love,

Lorraine

Born Pretty Store 3D Rhinestone Nail Bow and Gold Sea Shell Stud [Review]

A while back I was offered the chance to review a couple of items of my liking from the website Born Pretty Store.I guess all of you are familiar with the brand: a brand which is budget friendly and offers free worldwide shipping no less.

Check the Born Pretty Store website by following the link HERE.

If you want you can use the discount code: AIB10 to get 10% off your order.

Two of the items I chose were a rhinestoned bow, and gold seashells.

I also got some gold hoops which I've reviewed HERE.

Both the bow and the seashells are of good quality: to attach you simply need some good nail glue and a good topcoat to seal it in.

Check out some designs where I used the Born Pretty Store decorations :)

Hope you like the designs!

Anatomicals Grease Isn't The Word (Tell Me More, Tell Me More) Mattifying Face Mask [Review]

Quite a while ago now I placed an order with Anatomicals Malta [and yes, I really really need to place a second order now since I've run out of my beloved Zip Zapper and Moisturiser], and I was very pleased to see that the persons behind Anatomicals [yes, you!] had slipped a couple of extra stuff with my order.

I got 2 masks [the chocolate one which I've reviewed HERE] and the Grease Isn't The Word (Tell Me More, Tell Me More] Mattifying Face Mask.

You can get yours by following this link HERE [takes you to the Anatomicals website]

To use, you just slather on dry, clean skin, leave for 10-15 minutes to dry, then you just remove it with a soft  face cloth.

The first time I tried an Anatomicals mask I squeezed all the contents on my face - after which I realised that in a pouch like this you get quite a generous amount of product - there's enough for 2 applications.

I really was intrigued by this mask since I have an oily face - and I really wanted to see whether this would help dry my face out a tad bit.

I applied this after I had cleaned my face with a cleanser, and I was pleasantly surprised with the outcome - since even though this mask does give you a squeeky clean feel, it does not dry out your skin at all [and it has a light blue colour!]

I used this before I applied my makeup for a wedding I was invited to, and my makeup went on flawlessly.

don't take notice of my crazy eyebrows haha :)

Would you recommend any other face masks?

Love,

Lorraine

Summer Clothes Shopping [Haul]

Since I've been so good with working on my end of year uni assignments, I decided to treat myself to some quick shopping this week.

I got a couple of cute things, and so I decided to share them with you all!

I'm going to start off with the 2 buys I love the most;

Both dresses are from Peacocks [it had been ages since I last went in there and I'm so happy I did].

I fell in love with their retro style and cut. Both are knee length, with the blue one being slightly shorter.

They cost me around €25 each.

I also got this aztec print dress from Kiabi. I just love how cheap their clothes are.

This has really light material and also comes to about 1 inch above the knee. I think this cost less than €20.

From top to bottom: Striped vest, black lightweight dress and One Piece tshirt all from Kiabi.

I was overjoyed to see that they had One Piece tshirts in stock! I just love this anime/manga. This is a man's tshirt and I intend to customise it into a vest.

I also got me 4 pairs of flip flops. All of them are by Peacocks except the gold top one which is from George.

And I also bought some arm candy: top ones are from New Look, bottom from River Island.

Hope you enjoyed this post!

Love,

Lorraine

Milani Color Statement Lip Liner in #08 Fuchsia [Review]

A while ago I wanted a true, bright pink lip liner to go with my pink lipsticks, and I settled for this Milani Colour Statement Lip Liner in #08 Fuchsia.

This retails for just $3.99 on the Milani website [but they don't ship internationally I believe - I got mine from Cherry Culture when they had a 40% off discount across their whole site] but I had to pay shipping [plus customs if you place a large order].

It comes in a standard pencil form, and therefore you have to sharpen it.

The packaging matches the colour of the lip liner.

The Color Statement lip liners come in 8 shades and were launched in 2013 [and I believe that they have matching lipsticks]

This lip liner is very very creamy and very very pigmented [as you can see from the swatches below].

Unlike some other drug store brands, this does not tug on the lips and is not drying at all.

And what to say about this shade?

It is truly gorgeous, and perfect for the upcoming Summer months.

It is bright but not in your face bright, so those ladies who would like to rock a brighter pink lip, but are scared to go Candy Yum Yum bright, should definitely get this one.

You can definitely just use this on its own, paired with some lipgloss or used as a base for lipsticks.

This Milani lip liner is one of my all time favourite drug store lipliners, highly recommend!

Hugs,

Lorraine

Tony Moly Face Mix Cover Pot Concealer in #01 Light Beige [Review]

A while back I finished my beloved Tony Moly Baby Doll Concealer [my review HERE] and I decided to get the Face Mix Cover Pot Concealer  instead because I love to try out new concealers.

It is super affordable - I got mine from this seller HERE.

This concealer forms part of the Face Mix line - it includes primers, foundations, concealers and even a lip primer! I really must get my hands on a couple of other products from this line.

Like the Baby Doll version, this comes in just 2 shades: #01 Light Beige and #02 Natural Beige.

I got the lightest shade because I love a really light and bright under eye area, especially with smokey or darker eyes.

This concealer is super, but SUPER creamy and pigmented! It also banishes pesky under eye dark circles in a matter of seconds [I only use this concealer for my dark circles though, not for any other imperfections like pimples etc because I use a different concealer for that].

They claim that it has Lotus Water in it - so maybe that's why it feels so creamy.

... so creamy that it does need setting.

It does last quite a good number of hours.

In fact it really is similar to the Baby Doll concealer on all fronts.

Love,

Lorraine
